Dr. Josh Harris, owner of Somerset Spine & Performance Physiotherapy,  became a diplomaed osteopractor in December of last year.
An osteopractor is a doctor of physical therapy who has achieved a diploma through the Spinal Manipulation Institute. Osteopractic physical therapy is a true subspecialty within the physical therapy profession, similar to how an orthodontist is considered to be a  subspecialty of dentistry. The Spinal Manipulation institute is on the cutting edge of research and education in conservative management of orthopedic pain.

Being an osteopractor implies expertise in hands-on manipulation including spinal manipulation and soft tissue mobilization including tool-assisted soft tissue mobilization, cupping (suction cups that provide soft tissue massage), and dry needling. These are all evidence-based forms of treatment that, when utilized together, yield fantastic results in the treatment of many forms of orthopedic problems including back pain and sciatica, neck pain, headaches, TMJ (jaw) pain, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, rotator cuff issues, knee osteoarthritis, and hip  pain.

Treatment at Somerset Spine & Performance is hands-on and individualized, and no assistants are utilized to administer care. Dr. Harris encourages prospective patients to not let the fear of needles or manipulation prevent them from seeking care, as treatment is  custom-tailored to each patient’s preference and can be accomplished with or without those treatments.

Dr. Harris is also certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy, a world-renowned movement-based treatment approach that emphasizes active patient involvement so that patients can learn to self-manage their issues.

Many insurance plans do not require a referral. Call 606-425-4665 to schedule an appointment or to ask any questions you may have!
